God does not always call the equipped - but He never fails to equip those whom He has called.
Pastor training and church planting has long been at the heart of Vision Nationals-Nepal's ministry in Nepal. This year, the training is going mobile in hopes of reaching more pastors with the support and teaching they so desperately want and need.
In years past, Vision Nationals-Nepal has focused specifically on in-house training, bringing interested pastors and church planters into Kathmandu for a six-month intensive training course. The trainings have been beneficial for the men who have come, but there has been the realization that it is supremely difficult for these men to leave their homes, families and ministries for that amount of time. Rather than supporting their ministry, often the training has been an increased hardship on the life of the pastor, his family and his flock.
The mobile training program will address these challenges by taking the training to the men and providing ongoing encouragement and support. An added benefit will be the opportunity for the training to reach more pastors.
In December, Vision Nationals-Nepal held its first mobile training in Dhangadhi, a city on the far western border of Nepal. Twenty-three pastors from the region attended the training, all of them eager to grow in their knowledge of the Word and skills needed to better shepherd their flocks. Only three of the pastors who attended the training were previously trained through Vision Nationals, confirmation the mobile training will allow for a greater reach.
The training was held in a small room adjacent to a pastor's home. Though the room was small, it was more than sufficient for the purpose. The men listened diligently, sitting for many hours and asking for more whenever the instructors came to the end of the lessons.
Every pastor in attendance came with a story of God's grace and mercy in their lives. Each one could speak of miracles they had seen or experienced. Each one could testify to how God is strengthening the church of Jesus Christ in Nepal. And each one begged for more teaching and more training.
Each of the men pictured above rode a bicycle to the training, some covering many, many miles. Their dedication shows the length these men will go to receive training in the Word of God. In a nation where Christianity is still so new, pastors are starving for training and truth. Vision Nationals-Nepal hopes to stand in the gap for these men, offering them the support and encouragement that they need so they, in turn, can strengthen and grow their individual churches, pouring into the lives of the believers in their communities.
Thus far, the mobile pastor training has been supported by a few generous gifts from supporters. However, in order to continue this important training, we are in need of monthly support for the mobile training fund.
